Arte for All
In 2021, the Museum launched an ambitious campaign to raise $20.2 million to expand access to Mexican art and culture locally, nationally, and internationally.
Arte for All Strategic Objectives
Through the Arte for All: Uniting People from Neighborhood to Nation campaign, the National Museum of Mexican Art will continue to expand access to Mexican art and culture locally, nationally, and internationally with the goals of preserving heritage, embracing identity and bridging communities.
Strategic Objectives:
- Meet the needs of the growing Mexican community locally and nationally with relevant, high quality programs that connect people to their heritage and provide necessary resources
- Share the richness of Mexican visual and performing arts with people across the country and around the world through traveling exhibitions and multi-city performing arts festivals
- Enhance existing facilities to create welcoming, accessible spaces and outstanding experiences for audience members, artists, families, students and teaching artists
- Make Mexican art and culture resources readily available to scholars, educators, artists and others by strengthening NMMA’s digital offerings
Arte for All Goal: $20.2 Million
Arte for All seeks to prepare NMMA for the next stage of its existence, positioning NMMA as the lead resource for Mexican art and culture in the United States. Through the support of NMMA’s Board of Trustees and generous donors, the campaign has raised almost $17 million so far. We are grateful to our annual donors for their support over the years, and we ask those with the capacity to do more to consider a gift investing in the education and enrichment of the next generation of audience members. Your support will help to:
Fund a sustaining permanent endowment to ensure institutional financial stability.Goal: $10 million, $10 million raised to date (completed)
Improve NMMA’s ability to meet the needs of the Mexican community by expanding staff capacity, enhancing facilities, and developing national and international programming. Goal: $4.95 million, $2.6 million raised to date
Preserve, protect and grow the NMMA’s collection of art and artifacts through improved climate control, increased storage space, and the creation of an art acquisition fund. Goal: $2 million, $1.7 million raised to date
Build a multi-purpose museum parking plaza to relieve parking congestion in the neighborhood and create an outdoor space for events and activities. If you’ve visited the Museum lately, we’re sure you enjoyed how easy it now is to park! Goal: $2 million, $2 million raised to date (completed)
Provide access to NMMA’s resources to those who can’t visit in person with the development of a new website, expansion of the online searchable art database, and virtual programming. Goal: $1.25 million, $250k raised to date

Campaign Highlight: Yollocalli Expansion
As part of our efforts to deepen NMMA’s programmatic reach, NMMA is renovating a decommissioned firehouse in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood in order to expand access to NMMA’s award-winning youth initiative, Yollocalli Arts Reach. Once completed, Yollocalli will be able to double the number of students it serves on the southwest side of Chicago.
Campaign Highlight: La leyenda
Funds raised through the Arte for All campaign enabled NMMA to purchase the powerful La leyenda de los volcanes painting by Jesús Helguera that visitors can experience in the Nuestras Historias: Stories of Mexican Identity from the Permanent Collection exhibition.
