Carlos Almaraz was a painter, poet, and philosopher that spent parts of his early life in Chicago and around Los Angeles. This constant migration would allow him to identify with migrant farmworkers and their families, as he would eventually organize with César Chávez and the United Farm Workers (U.F.W.). Along with Judithe Hernández, Almaraz was a member of “Los Four”, a collective of Chicano artists that would insert themselves into the mainstream art scene by the late 1970s.
