Ismael Lara, Jr.
Ismael Lara, Jr. is a Mexican director from Texas who last worked at Goodman on American Mariachi. Chicago credits include the world premiere of Last Hermanos (A Red Orchid). Chicago associate/asstistant credits include world premieres of Bull: a love story (Paramount); The Leopard Play, or sad songs for lost boys (Steep); and I’m Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter (Steppenwolf). Other selected credits include In His Hands, The Displaced (Northwestern); The Thing I Hold (Hangar); And All the Dead Lie Down (Convergence-Continuum); and Aunt Leaf (Cleveland Play House). He has developed plays with CPT at Entry Point, Playwrights Local, Kane Rep, Rec Room, The Lark and National Queer Theatre. He is a recipient of a Drama League Fellowship and is an MFA candidate at Northwestern University.
