Mariana Yampolsky was a Chicago-born photographer. She traveled to Mexico to study, but made it her permanent home. She became a member of the Taller de Gráfica Popular (Popular Graphic Art Workshop) as the only woman at the time. The scope of her work focused on rural life. Her photos were featured in various exhibitions as well as the 1997 solo exhibition, On The Edge of Time: Photographs by Mariana Yampolsky at the NMMA. She visited the NMMA and was a staunch supporter of this museum until the end of her life.
