Roman Villarreal was raised in South Chicago. He is a sculptor, painter and art consultant who uses the visual aspects of his community and neighborhood as inspiration for his work. He studied from Elder maestros in order to find his own painting style as a painter of life in the inner-city. His main subject is life in the barrio. Villarreal is completely dedicated to art and his life as an artist, as he continues to explore various styles of painting. He believes an artist’s responsibility is to find balance between the light and the shadows of their interpretation of reality.
