The National Museum of Mexican Art will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in observation of Juneteenth.
Santos de la Torre is a Wixárika (Huichol) contemporary chaquira (beadwork) artist. Through careful attention to detail and color, his work protects and captures the Huichol world. The images used in his works depict myths, gods, natural elements, and ancestors particular to Huichol cosmogony. He lives and creates artwork within his native community of Santa Catarina Cuexcomatitlán, in the Sierra Madre.
