A Conversation with Arely Morales

Join us for a conversation with visual artist, Arely Morales, whose large-scale portraits explore themes of identity, immigration, labor, and the Latino experience. In dialogue with Elisa Soto, Curatorial and Exhibitions Associate at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Morales will share insights into her creative process, how she selects her subjects, and the ways she uses art to tell stories that highlight overlooked perspectives and amplify underrepresented voices.

About Arely Morales:
Arely Morales is a visual artist from Jalisco, Mexico, based in Fort Worth, Texas. Through large-scale portraiture, she explores identity, humanity, and the Latino experience in the U.S., highlighting emotional depth in overlooked stories. She earned her BFA from Stephen F. Austin State University and MFA from University of Washington. Her work has been exhibited at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Dallas Museum of Art, and other institutions nationwide.


About Elisa Soto
Elisa Soto is a Mexico-born museum professional with a BA from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and an MA from UIC. With 8+ years in design, she bridges curatorial practice and storytelling. She joined NMMA in 2023 and is now the Curatorial and Exhibitions Associate.
