A Day Without a Mexican: 20 Years Later
The National Museum of Mexican Art presents A Day Without a Mexican: 20 Years Later on Tuesday, May 14th at 6:00 pm. Twenty years ago, it happened: all Mexicans disappeared from the state of California. Revisit the stirring film that imagined life in the US and the consequences of the Mexican population suddenly disappearing. It is an important reminder of the important contributions that Mexicans make in the U.S.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with creators Sergio Arau and Yareli Arizmendi as they reflect on the lessons learned from the chaos portrayed in the film.
The film will be also shown in Mexico City and both presentations are sponsored by the National Museum of Mexican Art. The NMMA was a major sponsor of the original video which later was transformed into the movie.
