Join us on Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 pm for a thrilling, free double feature of two restored Mexican classics, La Llorona (70 minutes) and The Phantom of the Monastery (85 minutes).
La Llorona, the first Mexican horror film produced with recorded sound, tells a terrifying tale based on the Mexican colonial legend of La Malinche, who kills her children in an act of revenge against her unfaithful lover. Before taking her own life, she utters a curse on the firstborn of each generation of the conqueror's family. Turned into a terrifying ghost, known as La Llorona, she laments her misfortune emitting her chilling cry: "Oh, my children!".
In The Phantom of the Monastery, Alfonso, Eduardo, and Eduardo's wife, Cristina get lost in a forest, when a strange monk finds them and takes them to an ancient convent where the three amigos suffer personality changes, especially Cristina who tries to seduce Alfonso. After some efforts to escape, Alfonso is trapped inside a jail and more strange and macabre situations happen.
