Frida Kahlo, Her Photos

April 1 – August 7, 2022
Frida Kahlo, by Guillermo Kahlo, 1932 Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo Archives

Frida Kahlo, Her Photos comes from the archive of photographs that belonged to her personally and which were largely unknown. They are now grouped together thematically into six sections by a renowned Mexican photographer, curator and historian of photography in Mexico, Pablo Ortiz Monasterio. The exhibition does not describe a chronological biography of Kahlo, but rather reveals parts of the personal history of an artist, of a country and of a period. It is a photographic collage made up of images that allow us to discover new facets of a key figure in the 20th century.

The significance of these images as historical is undeniable, but they are also respected due to the accomplished photographers included in the exhibition: Lola and Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Brassaï, Tina Modotti, Martin Munkácsi, Man Ray, Pierre Verger and Edward Weston to name a few.
