Join the National Museum of Mexican Art’s Board of Trustees at the Gala de Arte!

The National Museum of Mexican Art’s annual benefit is crucial in securing the funding needed to sustain the Museum as the U.S.'s leading institution dedicated to Mexican art and culture. It is the only accredited museum of its kind and serves as a vital cultural landmark for Chicagoans and nationally.

Proceeds from the Gala de Arte support:

  • Critically acclaimed art exhibitions;
  • The award-winning Yollocalli Arts Reach youth program;
  • Engaging arts education for toddlers to seniors;
  • Performances that stir the soul; and
  • Community festivals that bring us all together.

The National Museum of Mexican Art’s Board of Trustees invites you to support this year’s Gala de Arte. All event proceeds will directly benefit the Museum's mission: To stimulate knowledge and appreciation of Mexican art and culture from both sides of the border through a significant permanent collection of Mexican art, rich visual and performing arts programs, high-quality arts education programs and resources, and professional development of Mexican artists. The Museum welcomes all people and strives to foster a world where all are included.

This year's celebration will recognize Rick and Deann Bayless with the Sandra Cisneros Award for significantly enriching the understanding and appreciation of authentic Mexican food and experiences and for their support of the performing arts. The Baylesses are world-renowned restauranteurs, educators, authors, television producers, and philanthropists. Carlos R. Cardenas will be honored with the Legacy Award for his long-term contributions to the National Museum of Mexican Art, most recently leading to the acquisition of the Yollocalli Fire Station, a youth arts center in Little Village. Mr. Cardenas is Chair of the museum's Board of Trustees and is Senior Vice President Group Manager at Wintrust Commercial Bank.

The Gala de Arte promises an unforgettable black-tie evening. In addition to networking with fellow supporters, you’ll enjoy a silent auction, live auction, exquisite cuisine, live music, and dancing.
