Nuestras Historias: Stories of Mexican Identity from the Museum’s Permanent Collection is our flagship exhibition that highlights the Museum’s Permanent Collection and showcases the dynamic, diverse stories of Mexican identity in North America. Xochicago: Floating Gardens of the Chicago River and México beautifully combines two vibrant waterway systems: the Chicago River and that of Xochimilco, an ancient settlement now nestled within the lively borough of Mexico City. Xochicago highlights the connection between the historic, nostalgic, and modern views of both places and thoughtfully compares the chinampas created by the Mexica (Aztec) with the floating gardens that Urban Rivers is bringing to life in Chicago. What are Late Wednesdays?
On the first Wednesday of every month, we are open until 8:00 pm; you can enjoy the Museum after hours with extended access to the galleries and gift shop. Stroll through current exhibitions, pick up a unique gift, and take in the art in a more relaxed setting. But that’s not all! Every month we offer a unique activity.
