June 14, 1995 – September 8, 1996
(Detail) María Izquiero, Trigo crecido (Grown Wheat), 1940, oil on masonite, Galería de Arte Mexicano, Mariana Pérez Amor/Alejandra R. de Yturbe Collection, Mexico City

Though not well known during her lifetime, Izquierdo had a great impact on Mexican art, especially on contemporary Mexican women artists. This exhibition was the first international retrospective of this artist, and it effectively served to reintroduce the artistic accomplishments of Maria Izquierdo to the U.S. The display consisted of over seventy works from public and private collections in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Cuernavaca.
