Nuestras Historias Residency Program

NMMA seeks passionate Chicago Public School teachers to join our Nuestras Historias Residency Program 2025–2026 cohorts! This unique opportunity invites educators to collaborate with an NMMA teaching artist to co-create an arts-integrated lesson and host an artist-in-residence in their classrooms. Help bring art and culture to life for your students—apply today!

Participants will:

  • Learn teaching methods for integrating art into your curriculum.
  • Create a Lesson plan integrating your Art Residency into your curriculum.
  • Choose a theme and art medium that aligns with your classroom curriculum in partnership with your teaching artist
  • Benefit from having a teaching artist teach hands-on art workshops in their classrooms for eight sessions.

Program details:

  • Teachers will participate in four Saturday morning professional development workshops: Two virtual and two on-site at NMMA (materials and CPDUs included).
  • Art materials will be provided for all students.
  • Each classroom will receive a NMMA field trip for your classroom: a tour of Nuestras Historias: Stories of Mexican Identity from the Permanent Collection and bus transportation is included.
  • Choose your cohort: Cohort 1 takes place from Late August to December, or Cohort 2 takes place from January to May.
