The National Museum of Mexican Art is pleased to announce our next exhibitions Into the Hourglass: Paño Arte from the Rudy Padilla Collection and Yollocallii Class of 2024. Join us on Friday, March 14th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for the opening reception.

Into the Hourglass is a traveling exhibition from the National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum in Albuquerque. It celebrates paños (Spanish for handkerchief) as an art form and the contributions of incarcerated artists to the broader fields of Chicano and American art while examining the topic of incarceration in contemporary society.

The Museum’s youth initiative, Yollocalli Arts Reach presents Yollocallii Class of 2024, an annual exhibition of work by the program’s talented young people. This year’s artists expressed themselves through multiple mediums like painting, photography, papier mache, murals, audio pieces, and radio shows. Without limitations and expectations their unique point of view provides us with a glimpse of the talent and creativity of young people in Chicago.
