“Serenísima Una Noche”— A Baroque Christmas

December 18, 2024, 12:00 – 2:00 pm National Museum of Mexican Art

Music of the Baroque and the National Museum of Mexican Art invite you to a free concert of Christmas music from centuries past, written by composers active in Mexico and South America during the 17th and 18th centuries. Joined by special guest Estelí Gomez, soprano, the Music of the Baroque Chorus and Brass Ensemble will also perform Renaissance and Baroque music from Spain, Portugal, and Italy under the direction of Andrew Megill.

Now in its fifth decade, Music of the Baroque is one of the leading professional ensembles in the country devoted to the performance of 17th- and 18th-century music. The ensemble has drawn particular praise throughout its history for its performances of the major choral and orchestral works of J. S. Bach, Handel, Mozart, and Haydn. Concerts take place at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park and Symphony Center in downtown Chicago and the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, as well as at intimate Chicago and suburban churches and neighborhood venues like the National Museum of Mexican Art.

Free tickets for this performance at the Museum are available at baroque.org/Pilsen. The concert will also be broadcast live on 98.7WFMT Radio, one of the world’s most respected classical music radio stations. .
