Woven: :  Connections and Meanings

This exhibition presented the work of five contemporary Mexican and Mexican American women artists who employ traditional ancestral textile techniques to create present-day narratives. Their discourse manifests a vital concern for issues of the US-Mexico border: immigration, identity, the environment, and resistance. The application of different weaving techniques, from Mexican textiles, fiber art in general, and new aesthetic tendencies in art, has enriched and strengthened the work of this group of artists.
