Join us for an exclusive public reading of MACHA: A Pocha Sister Story! Macha, which was recommended on Steppenwolf's The Mix List, is a love letter for Mexican daughters who have never been enough. The play zooms in on the interior complexities of sisterhood, broken promises, and the intimate conversations that unravel between three messy sisters on an ordinary day without parents, brothers, or distractions. Stuck among boxes, the sisters grapple with the inevitable question: What is holding us back?
The evening includes a live table reading and a moderated talk-back where we will dive deep into the genesis of this play, the new works process, and the themes. The free reading will be approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.
